As a long-time admirer of Emma Goldman (my play EMMA testifies, I hope,
to the depth of that admiration) I was delighted to learn, some years ago,
of the project, headed by Candace Falk, to begin the collection of the Emma
Goldman Papers. Since then, the project has grown magnificently, and I have
watched that growth with pleasure. I can think of few things more important,
in the situation of the United States today, than to bring the word, the
