We have released the ftp site for the 1970 Census Fifth Count Special Tabulation. Our next steps are to add some rescues 1960 data, and to provide a web interface for the 1970 data.

We are currently working on 1970 5^th Count data and hope to make that available in the very near future. In 2000 we added a number of files for ftp.

September 22, 1998
We have just launched the SSTF 2: Ancestry of the Population in the United States. And are now working on SSTF 1. The foreign-born population in the United States. Following that, we begin work on SSTF 21. Characteristics of the Black population of the United States. We will also be migrating the data to a mass storge system so that response time is improved, and so that we can discontinue using the current, slower, system: CD-ROMs on 6-disc changers.

Completed projects include:

• SSTF 2: Ancestry of the Population in the United States
• SSTF 3: Persons of Hispanic Origin in the United States
• SSTF 5: Characteristics of the Asian and Pacific Islander Population in the United States;
• Reviewing the code for the 1990 Census files and bringing them up to the current generation of compilers so that they all work.
