[MOA2-WP] Scanning questions

We've finally gotten our new color scanner and computer up and running and
started scanning the minute book yesterday. Several questions occurred to
Larry and me that I'm throwing out to the group for "best practices"
consensus.

1) The first thumbnail we created for a page from the minute book is
unreadable at 72 dpi. Is there any reason to take up server space on a
thumbnail for handwritten textual material? Couldn't we just link directly
to the display version?

2) How many derivatives is everyone making for each image (600 dpi for
master and then how many additional derivatives--300, 150, 75)?

3) Are you creating your derivatives from the master scanned image and
compressing them to the smaller size or are you re-scanning at the lower
dpi to save time?
