Nautical chart of the Aegean Sea made by Bremond, bound with 2 charts by Salvator Oliva (numbered HM 2515, q.v.)
Parchment, ff. 2 (1 sheet folded in center and pasted to back of flyleaf and back of following chart); 405 × 288 mm. (map size, 374 × 538 mm. on double page opening). Bifolium attached with stub.
Border is a yellow band triple ruled on each side in black ink.
Black and red ink for nomenclature in a cursive hand; land masses outlined in color, islands painted gold, red, or blue; 8 compass roses with usual 32 rhumb line network
in black; red and green ink for principal directions; no latitude or longitude; 2 unnumbered scales of distance; decorated
with vignettes of cities and an elaborate cartouche for one distance scale.
Bound, ca. 1830, with HM 2515 in pink marbled paper over cardboard, brown calf spine.
Marseilles, 1655 Signed “Faict a Marseille par Estienne Bremond, 1655.” For provenance of the volume, see HM 2515.
