"Dr. Naffziger worked closely with Presidents William Wallace
Campbell and Robert Gordon Sproul to foster the further development
and expansion of the School of Medicine. His recognition of the importance
of applying basic science to clinical medicine and surgery and his
stimulation of his students toward research resulted in the establishment
of the experimental research laboratories at the medical school. He
was the first to introduce to the West Coast the surgical residency
system as we know it today." |
