L. Jepson joined the University's faculty in 1894
as an instructor in botany. In 1925 he published
the comprehensive guide to California's flora, the
"Illustrated Manual of the Flowering Plants
of California." The Jepson Herbarium at Berkeley
houses plant specimens Jepson himself collected.
