Industry-University Cooperative Research Program (IUCRP) - Discovery Grants
IUCRP began in 1996 as an initiative by UC President Richard Atkinson to strengthen California's competitive advantage. It began as a UC Berkeley program, operating only in the field of biotechnology. Funding went from $3 million initially to $60 million in 2000, with more than half of the money contributed from private sources.
IUCRP has expanded into the areas of Electronics Manufacturing and New Materials, Digital Media, Communications and Networking, and Information Technology for Life Science, but these individual labels were eventually disbanded in favor of the broader brand name, The UC Discovery Grant, and with it, multi-field, interdisciplinary research proposals began pouring in. source

Integrated Hardwood Range Management Program
The IHRMP was established in 1986 to help sustain California's hardwood rangelands. They conduct symposia on topics such as Sudden Oak Death, and in general maintain and - where possible - increase hardwood range resources to provide a habitat for wildlife as well as aid recreation and wood products. source

Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM)
The Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) was created in 1979 to promote the integrated, ecologically sound pest control in California. They seek to reduce the pesticide load on the environment, and create long-term pest control solutions, such as habitat manipulation and biological control. source
