Fong, Justin. Appointed by The Regents as student Regent to serve a one-year term beginning July 1, 2000. Committee memberships (2000-01): Educational Policy, Finance, Grounds and Buildings. Education: Justin Fong is a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles pursuing a Master of Public Policy at the UCLA School of Public Policy and Research. Mr. Fong received his B.A. in Environmental Sciences from the UC Berkeley. Career: Mr. Fong has participated in numerous campus and community activities in both Northern and Southern California, including serving as a board member and co-founder of Bridges, an information network and multicultural service provider for youth; serving as a member of the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Task Force at UC Berkeley, an advisory board to UC Berkeley administrators on issues of student services, campus diversity and student leadership; and serving as a volunteer teacher at the Oakland Street Academy, an alternative high school for at-risk youth.

Foote, Henry S., d. March 28, 1905, Washington, D.C. Appointed to fill unexpired term of Regent Delmas, 1892-1900. Career: son of former governor of Miss. Served in Confederate army during Civil War; served as comnr. of Cal. Supreme Court; U.S. attorney, under Pres. Cleveland; was judge of citizenship court in Indian territory.

Friedlander, Isaac, b. 1833, Oldenburg, Germany; d. July 11, 1878. Elected Honorary Regent, 1868; resigned, 1869. Career: came to Cal., 1849; mined; began speculating in grain, 1852; extensive land holdings in San Joaquin valley, shipping interests.
